For almost all our graduates, joining Grant Thornton means
entering into a training contract. This usually lasts three years –
the time you’ll typically need to complete the exams that lead to
professional qualifications. This is by no means a straightforward
process. Studying for the exams themselves is challenging enough,
but at the same time we’ll also expect you to take on
responsibilities within our teams.
It’s certainly a challenging experience. But it’s also a
rewarding one. Once you’ve completed the training contract, you’ll
have a valuable qualification that’s a great foundation for a huge
range of business careers – and of course, we’ll be very keen to
keep your skills and experience within the firm.
Choosing between the different qualifications can seem daunting
at first. We’d certainly recommend doing some web research so you
know what you’re getting into and how the qualification is
structured. In fact, for many people the qualification route is
determined by the business area they choose to join. Graduates
working in Audit, for example, will generally study for ACA, ACCA
or CIPFA, while those joining Tax will work towards CTA.
No matter which route you follow, you are sure to have the best
possible support at Grant Thornton. Not only will everyone on your
team be ready to share the benefit of their experience, but you’ll
also have best-in-class training resources at your disposal. The
firm pays for your formal tuition which is provided by an external
specialist, and also gives you time off to help you progress your
studies.
We even have our very own training centre at Bradenham Manor,
which is a beautiful country house in Buckinghamshire. Ask anyone
who’s studied here and they’ll tell you it’s a great place to learn
while networking with other trainees. Courses here – and at our
other venues –mix technical and skills training, and our
experienced trainers aim to provide learning that’s genuinely
supportive, accessible and interactive. The food is great too!
