Placement and summer internships
If you’re keen to find out what accountancy is
really like, doing a placement is a great idea. It offers you the
chance to do the work of a proper trainee - but without the formal
long-term commitment.
The schemes here have been specifically designed to give you a
real insight into our business, our clients and our culture.
They’ll help you determine whether you want a career like this –
and whether Grant Thornton is the right firm for you.
We have two schemes in place: a 12-month placement and a summer
internship.
12-month placement
This placement will see you joining our first-year graduate
trainees on their national induction. You’ll discover more about
our firm, our strategy and how we work. You’ll then become a fully
signed-up member of the team, taking on the same responsibilities
as a first-year trainee. We’ll want you to make a real contribution
to the team. We hope to fast-track all of our 12 month
placement joiners to the graduate programme for the following
year.
This placement is ideal for those on four-year sandwich
courses.
Summer internship
We also offer a number of summer internships in most of our main
business areas and a number of our locations.
This programme lasts between four to six weeks and is a great
way to make the most of your university holidays. You’ll get to
develop new skills, build your commercial acumen and strengthen
your CV. You’ll also be supported throughout your placement – since
we’ll assign you a manager and trainee buddy. Again, we look
to convert 100% of our summer interns to our following year's
graduate programme.
Our internship is open to all university students in their
penultimate year.
Applying
Places on both schemes attract high interest, so make sure to
apply
early.
