Alex works in our Financial Services Group advising clients on change and project management, operational excellence, business integration and business intelligence.
Alex is a Partner in Grant Thornton where he heads the Business Consulting practice within the Financial Services Group. Previously, Alex was a Managing Director at SMART which was bought from LECG by Grant Thornton in April 2011. His core area of focus has been change management, mainly in sell-side operations. This includes transparency, cost-per-transaction and operational risk; shared services; business creation and development and outsourcing / insourcing advisory work.
Alex's expertise covers:
- Working 15 years at Cap Gemini, a year at Commerzbank and two years at Computershare.
- Leading initiatives, as a former director at a global investment bank, to develop transparency within all elements of middle office, business control and settlement activities within the bank, increasing operational efficiencies, driving down instances of breaks and fails and managing operational risk. This enabled the creation of an SLA-based business with the front office, and a more granular internal charging mechanism.
- Working within shared services which included a joint venture with a global investment bank to form a back office settlements company focused on the OTC cash derivatives market place and a joint venture with a leading futures exchange to set up a new vehicle to commercialise and sell its trading engine.
