Chris is head of the Oxfordshire Tax Practice which is a multi-disciplinary practice with over 50 staff. Whilst covering a wide range of tax issues he has a particular interest in international taxation and tax on corporate finance transactions.
Chris joined us at Grant Thornton in 1998. Previously he worked for KPMG and has also spent some time working in Grant Thornton's International Tax Group in London. He has significant experience in advising on corporate acquisitions (including those spanning a number of countries), disposals, flotations and reorganisations.
With over 10 years experience in tax, Chris now has a varied portfolio of clients mainly AIM listed or large private groups, but devotes most of his time to a mixture of international tax work and commercial tax advice. On an international front, Chris has been involved in restructuring groups to reduce their international tax burden, advised on tax efficient international expansion structures both in Europe and the US, and used transfer pricing and international funding arrangements to reduce his clients' tax bills.
Chris is particularly renowned for combining an extensive tax knowledge with a commercial approach to deliver practical and pragmatic tax solutions to his clients.
Chris is an experienced presenter and regularly speaks on behalf of Grant Thornton at tax and international seminars.
