I have had a variety of experience during the 30 years I have been in the firm, including working in audit and corporate finance, both in the UK and in the US (New York). I have been fortunate to work with a variety of excellent organisations including listed and private companies, financial institutions, pensions, charities and universities and colleges, advising them on audit and other related services.
My real passion is in the education sector in which I have been involved for the past 20 years. I have built up a depth of understanding of the issues facing both the publicly and privately funded organisations (including universities, colleges and companies), and believe that I am well placed to not only be able to lead the development of our work within Grant Thornton but also to provide a balanced and informed view to the sector.
I am at the forefront of many sector developments and have authored a key piece of thought leadership: "The Financial Health of the Higher Education Sector", now in its fifth year of publication and is well received each year by the sector for its independent and informed views. I also sit on a number of regulatory and committees within both the higher and further education sectors as my firm's representative, as part of delivering on our mission to play a leading role in the development of these aspects within the sector.
In my spare time, I am a keen follower of almost all sports, but particularly football and horse racing; I enjoy keeping fit as best I can, skiing and travelling. I also enjoy good music and the high spot of every summer is attending the Glastonbury festival of Performing Arts with my friends and children.
