Gary leads the firm's government and not for profit sector practices in Scotland and Northern Ireland. He has responsibility for managing the firm's framework contracts with Audit Scotland and the Northern Ireland Audit Office. He also leads a team of 30 professionals to deliver audit and assurance services to over 60 government and charity clients. He works with a portfolio of higher and further education and social housing clients and is an expert in accounting, financial management and governance practices for these sectors.
Gary has over 20 years' experience in public sector assurance covering local government, central government, education and health sectors. He has extensive experience in advising on the development of performance and governance arrangements, and the audit of best value and efficiency. He has led national reviews of efficiency and performance in the public sector and given expert evidence to the Parliament's Finance and Audit Committees on these topics.
Gary has previously been responsible for the external audit of the Scottish Parliament and Scottish Government and has a wide range of networks and contacts across the wider public sector in Scotland.
