The European Cross-Border Mergers Directive was adopted in 2005 and aims to facilitate mergers and acquisitions activity across the European Union.  Under the Directive the assets and liabilities of a merging company can be transferred to another in a different EU member state company.  This article discusses the Directive and its current role.
