Clifford Shanbury (Partner)
Clifford works in our Audit and Business Assurance
group, specialising in audit and advisory services to the education
sector and central government in England and Scotland.
Experience
Clifford joined us at Grant Thornton in 2007, following the
merger with RSM Robson Rhodes where he had worked as a partner
since 1979.
Clifford has wide experience of external and internal audits in
both the private and public sectors. Since 1992, he has had
particular responsibility for building our education sector client
base, particularly in higher education. He is a Board member of our
national education group.
Clifford's expertise covers:
- External and internal audits of Higher Education institutions
in England and Scotland, ranging from Russell Group universities
through redbrick to various new universities, and an Oxbridge
college
- Audit and other services to specialist HE institutions
including music conservatories, drama, dance and arts
organisations
- Strategic and other consultancy assignments for HE and FE
institution and funding bodies, private companies
- Audits of central government bodies in England and
Scotland
- Auditor and advisor to private and public companies,
partnerships and trusts
- Forensic advisor and expert witness in relation to education
and commercial matters
Qualifications
- Honours degree in Law
- Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and
Wales
- Member of the Institute of Internal Auditors
- Member of the Institute of Credit Management
