Chris Clements (Partner)
Chris is an experienced expert witness in our
Forensic & Investigation practice, specialising in arbitration,
criminal, determination, expert witness, fraud, mediation and
investigation work and has been appointed as Expert Assessor by the
President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and
Wales. He is the forensic partner responsible for Grant Thornton in
the East of England, including Birmingham, Cambridge and East
Anglia, Leeds, Leicester, Newcastle and Sheffield offices.
Experience
Chris joined us at Grant Thornton in 1996 specialising in
forensic accountancy. Previously he had worked as an auditor, but
had occasional involvement in forensic cases since 1992. Chris has
extensive experience in all aspects of forensic accountancy work
involving claims up from £25 thousand to £2.5 billion.
Key assignments/clients include:
- Advising on compensation at the 2012 Olympic site
- Appointed as consulting expert to advise US lawyers on an
alleged audit negligence action against the auditors of a UK public
company with substantial American interests
- Leading investigation teams into frauds at listed
companies
- Quantifying the loss of profits following the collapse of a
deal under the Private Finance Initiative
- Valuing an airport as part of a major dispute
Chris' roles outside work have generated strong accounting
experience, including being independent examiner of a number of
charities and trusts, as well as Finance Director to the Yorkshire
and Humber Fraud Forum, and honorary treasurer to the Leeds Junior
Chamber of Commerce.

Qualifications
- FCA (Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants)
