Future of Morwellham Quay secured
Grant Thornton UK LLP is pleased to announce that it has reached
an agreement to sell the business and assets of The Morwellham and
Tamar Valley Trust, and Morwellham Trading Co. Limited to Simon and
Valerie Lister with completion set for 20 April 2010.

Thornton had been appointed joint administrators of The Morwellham
and Tamar Valley Trust and Morwellham Trading Co. Limited
(Morwellham) on 25 September 2009. The Trust operates Morwellham
Quay, the award-winning open-air mining museum located in a
designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty near Tavistock in
Devon.
The joint administrators worked closely with
the secured creditors of Morwellham, comprising Devon County
Council and West Devon Borough Council who supported and approved
the sale to Mr and Mrs Lister.
"We are delighted to have successfully
completed a transaction that is designed to ensure that this unique
visitor attraction remains open to the public," said Nigel
Morrison, Partner at Grant Thornton's Recovery and Reorganisation
practice.
The joint administrators were advised by David
Pomeroy of Ashfords LLP and John Kinsey of King Sturge LLP.
"Ashfords LLP and King Sturge LLP were
instrumental to achieving the sale of Morwellham and in bringing
about such a positive outcome," added David Matthews, Director at
Grant Thornton's Recovery and Reorganisation practice.
