Grant Thornton Wins 'Best Tax Investigation Team'Award at the
Prestigious Industry LexisNexis Taxation Awards Ceremony
Grant Thornton has scooped the 'Best Tax Investigations Team'
award at the prestigious LexisNexis Taxation Awards in a year in
which retrospective legislation has led to mainstream tax planning
coming under increasing scrutiny from tax authorities.
Scott Barnes, Chief Executive said, "Grant Thornton's Tax
Investigations team has shown its exceptional depth and breadth of
experience by scooping this top award. In an economic climate where
the authorities have come down hard on those UK residents with
offshore trusts and HMRC has introduced two separate tax amnesties,
the Liechtenstein Disclosure Facility and the New Disclosure
Opportunity, the Tax Investigations team has kept ahead of the pace
and has best advised clients affected by these arrangements. The
team won with style in a strong category, impressing the judges
with their successes, growth, outstanding client testimonials and
team spirit.
Paul Roberts, Head of Tax Investigations said, "It was a
privilege to accept the award on behalf of the
team, who have worked extremely hard and deserve
this title. It has been a tough and challenging year with all the
various changes that have been announced concerning offshore
accounts. I lead a team of outstanding individuals and I am pleased
that our skill and efforts have been recognised."
LexisNexis described the standard and the number of entries as
incredibly high this year. Grant Thornton was also short-listed in
three other categories:
Best High Net Worth Team - Birmingham's Private Client Team
Best Tax Team in a Large Firm - National Recovery &
Reorganisation Tax and Pension Team
Taxation's Rising Star - Natasha Ryan
