Grant Thornton's Head of Tax is Appointed To the Government's Newly Created Forum of Tax Professionals

Francesca Lagerberg, Head of Tax at Grant Thornton has been appointed to the panel of the Forum of Tax Professionals, the newly created government business forum which will be chaired by the Exchequer Secretary to the Treasury, David Gaulke MP.

The Forum of Tax Professionals was first announced at the Emergency Budget by the Chancellor to reform the framework for developing tax policy and making tax law. It will provide a platform for Government to listen to the needs of business through greater consultation.

"I am delighted and honoured to have been asked to be involved in this very important initiative. For too long businesses in the UK have suffered from knee jerk reactions made on tax policy and I would hope that this forum will allow for the voice of business to be heard by policy makers so as to improve UK competitiveness, " says Francesca Lagerberg, Head of Tax at Grant Thornton.

Francesca Lagerberg was appointed Head of Tax at Grant Thornton in 2009 and is a past-Chairman of the Tax Faculty of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales (ICAEW) and has chaired its Technical Committee for three years.

Membership of the panel will initially be for two years and the forum will meet bi-annually.

The full membership is:

Malcolm Gammie CBE QC - Research Director for the IFS Tax Law Committee

Vincent Oratore CTA - President of the Chartered Institute of Taxation

Chris Sanger - Global Director of Tax Policy at Ernst & Young and Chairman of the Tax Faculty of the ICAEW

Jane McCormick - Head of Corporate Tax at KPMG
